DEER SYMBOL
The Deer is a messenger, an animal of power, a totem representing sensitivity, intuition and gentleness….
The deer is one of the most important figures in Anatolian iconography.
Being a common image in rock art of all ages, there are many legends and stories sanctifying deer.
In antiquity, the deer, together with mother-tree was considered as creator-Goddess and source of life and the development of the cosmos.
The antlers of the deer symbolize sacred life, and regeneration. The deer cast their antlers in a continuous cycle. Every spring they begin to grow new ones, usually a little larger than the last. Nothing is lost, even as it is replaced. This transformation and the life-cycle are ongoing.
The Deer, as a guide, as a master, is here to teach us how we can be agile, while keeping our balance, reminding us to listen, to hear, to bring curiosity to that which is beyond the obvious, beyond what is seen and told, to decide accordingly when to wait and when to move in the right time, towards the right place.
The Deer is a reminder that we can be powerful and vulnerable at the same time, owning our gifts of life, mastering our lives, in harmony, through transforming ourselves to greater selves.
